There is a long-running stereotype that seniors have a phobia of new technology. Contrary to that idea, not every driver over 60 shakes their first at new features while hollering, "They don't make cars like they used to!"

In fact, many of the most cutting-edge features in the new Hyundai lineup have the greatest benefits for older drivers.

"Anything that reduces the likelihood or severity of a collision is really a technology that is primed for helping tomorrow's older adults," said Bryan Reimer, researcher at MIT's AgeLab, to the The Detroit News. "We are moving toward an ecosystem where older adults will increasingly be supported by the technology that may help enhance their mobility."

A few specific drawbacks of aging include reduced range of motion, slower reaction time, and the double-whammy of being more likely to be injured in a crash and taking longer to recover. Features like Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-traffic Alert, and Lane Change Assist -- available in the Hyundai Tuscon and Hyundai Sonata -- augment your senses, giving you more time to react and avoid a collision.

Hyundai's available Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) systems use both camera and radar sensors to detect imminent collisions, warn the driver, and apply brakes if necessary to avoid an impact.
