When it comes to hydrogen fuel cell technology, South Korean automaker Hyundai is on the top of their game. As we recently told you on our blog, the manufacturer has already delivered several of these zero-emission autos to the city of Copenhagen, Denmark. Now, they're gearing up stateside for another H2 vehicle, the Hyundai Tucson.

As far as Hyundai is concerned, hydrogen fuel cell technology will be a large part of the future of the automotive industry, and they're not alone. Several other manufacturers are building their own H2 models, but few have gotten as far. Along with their membership to H2USA, which aims at bolstering hydrogen infrastructure, Hyundai is gunning to be the leader of the pack.

However, offering an H2 friendly model is just the first step. There are still several obstacles to be overcome before autos like the Tucson can be offered to Annapolis, MD drivers. One of these is subduing the costs of building and maintaining hydrogen powertrains, which due to their usage of certain metals, are more expensive than plastic fuel tanks. Then there's also fueling stations to consider--although Hyundai is already tackling this problem with their partnership with the Department of Energy.

We'll be offering you updates as we get them on our blog. In the meantime, we invite you to stop by Annapolis Hyundai to check out the wide variety of amazing eco-friendly autos we have in our showroom, like the Sonata Hybrid. Stop on by and we'll fix you up with a test drive!
