Dear parents,

Your kids are adorable, and so creative! One of their favorite activities is drawing in crayon, especially when they're stuck in the back seat on a long car trip. You like crayon. Unlike markers, or the dreaded paint, crayon is fairly neat. It doesn't get all over everything.

Until it does.

What do you do when the kids decide your fabric car seats make a perfect artist's canvas? Here's a trick you'll wish you had learned years ago.

  • Take a piece of paper. Brown paper bags work well, as do paper towels, or white printer paper.
  • Place the paper over the waxy stain on the car seat (or couch, or clothing, or carpet, or...)
  • Iron the paper with a clothing iron at the hottest setting the fabric can tolerate.
  • The heat from the iron melts the wax, and the melted wax absorbs into the paper, lifting the stain out like magic. Any remaining residue should be removed with a fabric cleaner.

Keeping the interior of your car looking new can be as simple as knowing the right "car hacks." Keeping the engine running like new takes a more expert touch. If you are experiencing any mysterious noises, trouble with ignition, weird handling or power loss -- or if it's just time for a check-up -- schedule a service appointment with Annapolis Hyundai.
