You picked out a small crossover SUV because it earned a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The dreaded small-overlap front collision has you worried, so you made certain to find a vehicle that would protect you and your loved ones in that type of crash.

After further investigation into eight small SUVs that earned a good rating for small-overlap protection, the IIHS discovered that while you may be protected during a small-overlap crash, your front-seat passenger may not be so lucky.

Out of the eight Top Safety Pick-earning SUVs tested for passenger-side protection, three scored acceptable on the passenger's side, two were marginal, and the Toyota RAV4 earned the lowest rating, poor. Only the 2016 Hyundai Tucson earned the highest score for both driver and passenger safety.

Other new Hyundai models that earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick this year include the Santa Fe Sport, Genesis, and Sonata. Come check them out at Annapolis Hyundai today!
