Autumn can be a foggy time of year in Annapolis. When humid summer air mixes with the chill of coming winter, an outbreak of condensation can form over your windshield like a pale white sheet, blocking road visibility.

How can you get to work on time on such a September morning? Hyundai Insider has five tips to get rid of fog faster.

  • Click the defog button on the console - This will direct air at your windshield, where it is needed.
  • Turn the fan all the way up - The greater volume of air, the more evaporation can occur. Imagine using a larger towel to sop up the condensation.
  • Turn the heat up to maximum - Hot air can hold more moisture, like using a more absorbent towel.
  • Turn on the air conditioning - The AC strips moisture from the air, like wringing out your towel.
  • Turn on fresh-air intake - Air in the closed cabin is likely more humid than air outside, so you don't want it recirculating. If it's not raining, cracking a window can also speed the process.

Hyundai Insider also recommends preventing fog in the future by keeping the inside of your windshield clean, and replacing the cabin air filter once a year. Order genuine Hyundai replacement air filters from our parts department, or have our trained technicians do the work for you at your next service appointment.
