Sometimes, a few years can go by between generational updates of a car, leaving it to mid-cycle refreshes to keep the car attractive. This is something the South Korean automaker Hyundai has had to do recently with the Tucson, which last saw a major overhaul in 2010. Although there aren't much in the realm of visual changes, there have been some tweaks to the underpinnings that make this crossover even more fun to drive.

The changes you will notice are the addition of projector beam halogen headlights, and LED taillights, making the car more visible either coming or going on dark roadways. There are also new 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels available, depending on the trim level, and the cabin now has two new color options (brown or beige). The navigation has also been tweaked, offering two different interface options.

For engine options, the Tucson's base model comes with an all-new 2.0-liter "Nu" inline-four with direct injection for better fuel economy. This engine offers a solid 164 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft of torque and 23 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

The higher trim 2.4-liter engine has also gotten a direct-injection revamp, offering 182 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft of torque. The fuel economy numbers for this version are 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. Definitely not too shabby.

The 2014 Tucson will arrive soon at Annapolis Hyundai with a starting MSRP of $21,450. For more information, contact us through our website or stop by our Annapolis, MD showroom. You can set up a test drive through our website if you wish.
