If there's one thing that gets us just as excited as new Hyundai models, it's concept cars. So when we heard that the South Korean automaker's HCD-14 Genesis Concept was awarded Concept of the Year at the North American Concept Awards, we were stoked beyond stoked.

The North American Concept Awards has, for the last 11 years, given recognition to the prototype designs of automakers for their innovative and eye-catching designs. Where these concept cars never actually make it into production form, we often see some of their design cues and technology appear in new and upcoming models.

The Hyundai prototype sports a striking, clean-lined exterior, complete with a gently sloping roof and rear suicide doors. There's something to be said for the visual uniformity of this car, too, which somehow manages to be sleek and angular all at once.

So what model will the HCD-14 Genesis lend its inspiration to?

Our guess, personally, is that we'll see some of the features of this prototype in a next-generation version of the Hyundai Genesis coupe. But that's just based on the name. Visually, the cars have very little in common. While we can also speculate that the car could be the groundwork for an all-new model, we won't know until we either get an announcement, or see the cues on a new vehicle.
