It's anticipated by some. It's feared by others. It's the zombie apocalypse, where the dead rise and attack in droves. Some may prepare with baseball bats and explosives. South Korean automaker Hyundai, however, is preparing by arming their spiffy 2013 Veloster Turbo to the teeth and sending it to Comic-Con for the world to see.

The zombie-mod Veloster Turbo, called the Zombie Survival Machine (ZSM), is the second in what will hopefully be a long line of apocalyptically-imagined cars from the South Korean manufacturer. Last year, Hyundai brought along a modified Elantra complete with a spiked snow plow, bladed wheels, and a bit of armoring. This year's offering, though, is sure to inspire even greater fear in the hordes.

The 2013 Veloster Turbo that Hyundai brought along is a versatile war machine that sacrifices some (but not all) of the auto's style for munitions. The grille has been replaced by saw blades, and each headlight footed by chainsaws. Sandbags are lashed across the hood for impact protection, and backed up with two hood-bound cannons. Every piece of glass is covered with bars or mesh of some kind, and there's a nice little turret on top for good measure.

While we never particularly relished the idea of being overrun by zombie hordes here at Annapolis Hyundai, we can definitely see ourselves having a little bit of fun in this well-equipped ZSM.

Of course, the 2013 Veloster is fun without all the cannons, turrets, and chainsaw goodies. Stop by our dealership in Annapolis, MD. We'd like to show you. And while you probably won't have turrets at your disposal during your test drive, we're sure you'll still love the 7-inch touch screen with 450-Watt Dimension Premium Audio and steering wheel controls.
